About US

Backyard Garden Farm started with a single 6 x 8 greenhouse and a love of organic gardening. In 2019 we had our first Plant Yard Sale.  That led to a new hoop house, lots of planning, digging, and planting. In the fall we moved indoors ordered seeds, pots, plant markers, business cards, and a few other things. 

We started 2020 with high hopes, and then COVID changed everything. Keeping everyone safe and healthy became a priority. The 2020 plan included a new website, taking online orders, and no contact deliveries. 

This is a small family farm.  Sue does most of the planting, potting and online activities. Generally, our customers only see Sue, but Jay is busy behind the scenes.  He lays out new beds, puts up greenhouses, moves plants and dirt and comes up with some really good ideas from time to time. 

In 2021 we added another family member to our team.  Corinne is in charge of the houseplants.  She decides what ones to add to our selection, grows them, and brings them to the farm.  Being both a plant and animal lover she has a fondness for pet-safe plants.  

Everything here is organically grown, we simply don't use chemicals. Our plants get lots of loving care, rainwater, good soil, and compost.  That has been our practice for decades and it will continue for decades.  We focus on bringing our customers a variety of healthy, new additions, for them to take from our home to theirs.
